Cheryl Carlson (President) - St. Johns, Michigan
Cheryl has been breeding and training dogs for lives of significance and service® since 1977, providing guard dog service, teaching family companion dogs (manners, problem solving and behavior modification), personal protection, training Police Service K-9s along with physical and emotional assistance dogs. She has rehabilitated and placed countless rescue dogs and conducted hundreds of DOG BITE PREVENTION seminars throughout the country. She frequently provides expert witness testimony throughout the state of Michigan regarding training of police dogs, dog attacks, and dog behavior and is also a certified E.M.S. instructor in the field of Environmental Emergencies.
Cheryl enjoys competition with her own dogs, and has titled in conformation, obedience, agility, rally obedience, herding, nosework, terrier racing, barn hunt, lure coursing, dock jumping, shed hunting, Schutzhund, French Ring Sport, Campagne and UKC Dog Sport. She has judged countless personal protection trials throughout the US and Canada, is the ONLY woman in North America to ever receive certification as a Campagne decoy (a French sport consisting of bitework, agility, obedience and tracking), is one of the founders and past President of NARA (North American Ring Association) and is also a UKC Performance Sport judge licensed for Family Obedience, Dog Sport and Nosework.
Cheryl has trained and certified over 100 police K-9's to date with teams trained in patrol, narcotics, explosive and accelerant detection. She has also trained and certified many other dog trainers in police work (narcotics detection training and police K-9 decoy training).

Lori Webster (Vice-President) - St. Johns, Michigan
Lori has a long history of service to the dog fancy which began as a child raising puppies for "Leader Dogs for the Blind" when she was nine years old. She has been an award-winning trainer and handler since 1999 competing in conformation, obedience, agility, rally obedience, nosework, terrier racing, barn hunt, lure coursing, dock jumping, shed hunt, French Ring Sport, UKC Dog Sport and biting sport tournaments.
Lori is also an accomplished decoy of national notoriety and certified in numerous venues to provide expert training for bite sports, police dogs, search and rescue, medical alert/assistance dog training and rehabilitating aggressive dogs.

Together, our DSDCA President Cheryl Carlson and Vice-President Lori Webster own and operate Cher Car Kennels in St. Johns, Michigan. They are both High-in-Trial winning competitors and Best-in-Show winning bred-by handlers. They first started competing with Dutch Shepherds in 2003 and expanded their existing breeding program to include Dutch Shepherds in 2005. They have produced 5 generations of Dutch Shepherds to date, with 27 Champions and 6 Grand Champions. They also bred-by handled the UKC’s first Best-in-Show winning Dutch Shepherd and have now produced four additional Best-in-Show winning Dutch Shepherds. Their Dutch Shepherd breeding program has also produced 27 Police K9s, 24 Medical Alert/Assistance dogs and 4 Search & Rescue dogs. They have a large following of dog show participants that compete with their Cher Car Kennels bred Dutch Shepherds who collectively have earned a total of 848 UKC titles to date.
Carole Field (Secretary) - St. Johns, Michigan
Carole Field is a Dog World Award winning obedience competitor, licensed All-Breed UKC Performance Sports Judge, nationally published freelance writer and photographer, and a professional member of the Dog Writers Association of America since 1994. She has handler/owner trained/titled 15 dogs to a total of 185 titles since 1982, acknowledging their competitive achievements in AKC Obedience, Schutzhund, K9 Pro Sports, French Ring Sport, Barn Hunt and the UKC venues of Agility, Conformation, Dock Jumping, Lure Coursing, Nosework, Obedience, Precision Coursing, Rally Obedience and Terrier Racing. Her dogs have garnered numerous High-Obedience and High-in-Trial awards, plus a Reserve Best-in-Show in conformation.
Carole bought her first Dutch Shepherd in 2006 and began breeding in 2010. Through her business partnership with Cher Car Kennels, she has produced 1 Best-in-Show winning Dutch, 12 Champions and 1 Grand Champion, along with 28 Police K9s, 2 Search and Rescue dogs and 2 Medical Alert/Assistance dogs. The progeny of her dogs also participate heavily in UKC performance events, earning 321 titles to date.
Kelly Reed-Lucas, Esquire (Director, Legal Counsel) – Riverdale, Michigan
Kelly Reed-Lucas has been an attorney since 1987 but utilizes her participation in dog sports as a “mental health break” from her hectic legal schedule. She already owned a competition German Shepherd Dog when she bought her first Dutch Shepherd in 2012, and has titled in UKC Agility, Conformation, Coursing, Dock Jumping, Nosework and Rally Obedience.
She bred her first Dutch Shepherd litter in 2015 out of her Best-in-Specialty Show and Reserve-Best-in-All-Breed Show winning Grand Champion (who also holds 22 performance titles) and has now produced 5 Champions and 1 Grand Champion with 83 UKC titles between them. Kelly currently competes with the daughter and grandson of her foundation dam.
Karen Wroblewski, DVM (Director, Veterinary Counsel) – New Hudson, Michigan
Dr. Wroblewski has been a veterinarian since 1991 and is a PennVet certified Working Dog Practitioner qualified with additional expertise to care for working and performance dogs, who have higher physical exertion demands, increased risk for injury, and greater exposure to hazardous substances and environments.
Dr. Wroblewski began competing in organized dog sports with her personal dogs in 1981, first with a Border Collie, then a Labrador Retriever followed by several Doberman Pinschers, one Malinois and now exclusively with Dutch Shepherds after purchasing her first Dutch in 2010. She has titled in agility, barn hunt, conformation, coursing, dock jumping, obedience, rally, and most extensively in Nosework. She began breeding Dutch Shepherds in 2020 and has produced one breed Champion and two Police K9s to date.
Dr. Wroblewski was also instrumental in the discover of Inflamatory Myopathy after working from 2010 through 2018 with Cher Car Kennels and numerous University Veterinary Medical Centers in testing, identifying, and ultimately determining the cause of this disease.
